Kings Hill Seniors have already started their season with an away match to Rochester and Cobham. Not surprisingly Rochester and Cobham are the leading club in the group. However, I am pleased to report that Kings Hills took the win 4-2. This was the first league home defeat for Rochester and Cobham for at least seven years. A key feature of the performance was the pairings of Andy Sale and Robin August and Malcolm Honey and Alastair Byron coming back to secure halves from seemingly lost positions. It was this never say die spirit that secured the league title last year.
News of the victory has spread quickly and has certainly sent shock waves through to the other league clubs. Captain David Lake said that during the lunch afterwards it was like listening to a Premier League manager who had just lost, with all of the "reasons" coming out. Including of course the change to the 90% rule.
Several of the squad have attended the seniors group coaching during the winter which we are going to continue throughout the season and introduce a ladies and junior team coaching session too. Click here for more information or to enrol.
Onwards and upwards. Two home games coming in April.
At the other end of the age spectrum our girls are doing well too. Olivia Heard, just 12 years of age, won the Weekend Stableford last weekend with a whopping 49 points. This must surely be a course record for a junior who was already playing off a handicap of 18. I know from speaking to the ladies they are all very proud of her. In fact, Olivia, Charlotte and Maria are all doing very well indeed and I expect we will see great things of them during the season ahead.
Looking ahead to the Masters, please ensure that you have entered as entries will close next week please find below a brief outline of the weekend.

Sat 9 Apr - Men only entering both Saturday and Sunday comps.
Sun 10 Apr - Men second round of Masters and Salver (early Sunday), plus the ladies Crystal Challenge too.
The draw will be done for Saturday's play next Wednesday so don't miss out.
