Hello golfers,

It's been a busy week for short game fanatics at the club. Starting with the training day with tour short game coach James Ridyard (photo below). The Titleist Vokey wedge and Scotty Cameron putter trial day was also a huge success, with Titleist being very impressed with our short game facilities.

The final event of the past week was the members coaching evening. 35 members benefited from the explaination, demonstration and we hope that you all reap the rewards in your game at the weekend. If you did not manage to take part in these events, maybe my tip below might help you.

In an effort to help you shoot lower scores, we'd like to share a few wedge play secrets. 

One of the biggest causes of loose ball striking is poor ball positioning. So… 

1. Check your ball is positioned correctly under your sternum (pictured below). 
2. Now, you need to stay balanced and avoid swaying with your backswing. Leaning back to help the ball up moves the bottom of your swing arc away from the ball. 
3. Once you're set-up correctly, it's about trusting the loft of your wedge to do its job. A good way to guarantee this is to take a divot after the ball, which should also help create spin for added control.

Match results 

Firstly I need to apologise to the A team as they won the match that I reported they drew. It was the juniors turn to fly the Kings hill flag last week, winning their game 2 - 1 against week Kent. Well done guys! 

The Richard Moore

The Richard Moore draw has now been done please take note of your start time as it is a two tee start between 9 - 11. This promises again to be a great event with a BBQ after play. I look forward to seeing you at the club over the bank holiday weekend.
