It was great to see the European Tour return to the UK last week. The BMW PGA Championship is always a catalyst for the UK golfing season, especially with so many great performances by home-grown players. In fact, six players in the field last week have also played in PGA events at Kings Hill over the past few years.
This year will be no exception with the club hosting the Southern Professional Championship from 14th September until the 16th September. This is the oldest and most prestigious event on the PGA calendar, where 132 of the best players from the South East of England will compete for the trophy.
On the Wednesday, 14 September you can play with the pros around our wonderful course. Click here for more information.
Kings Hill's Seniors Team returned to winning ways and the top of the table with a 4-2 away win at Gillingham. Well done to John Thornewell, Steve Hook, Jim Davies, Larry Davis, Peter Bryant, Dave Sealey, Jon Janes, Mike Gibson, John Holt, Keith Fisher, Malcolm Honey and Team Captain David Lake. The Men's Team won 7-1 at home to Surrey Downs, both teams inspired by the new team kit (as shown in the photo below). We've received compliments from the opposing team and other club members, too. Pop into the shop to collect your team kit for when you represent the club. Unfortunately, the team's unbeaten run ended against Sittingbourne at home. View the current standings here. Let's hope they can bounce this weekend in the return match away at Sittingbourne.
The Falmouth Trophy was won by Martin Payne, Steve Thompson, Dave Andrews and Mark Hodge with an impressive 89 points. The winning team can be seen in the second photo above.
Looking ahead we have the Men's Invitation Day on Friday, 8 July. This is your opportunity to invite one or three guests to the club for a fun and enjoyable social golfing event. The format for the day will be coffee and bacon rolls at 12:00 noon, followed by 18 holes with your guests. Once back in the clubhouse, a two-course meal and prizegiving will bring the event to a close. At £55 per pair or £110 for you and three guests, book yourself in on the BRS system ASAP to ensure you don't miss out.
