Just what was needed
Having had so much negative press in the build up to the Olympics, I'm sure you would all agreed that the performance and professionalism shown by Stenson and Gold Medal winner Justin Rose eclipsed all that bad publicity. I believe that the 6.3 billion people that tuned in to watch will be inspired to play this great game.
"That felt better than anything I've ever won. It was the best tournament I've ever done"
This was a quote from Rose's post round interview - a former US Open champion let's not forget.
"Hopefully we've shown Brazil what golf is about. I'm glad it was close. Not for my nerves. For golf."
We have several sessions in the golf academy that can assist with this, none more so than the Fore Women Golf sessions. The next of which is on this Saturday, 20 August - contact the pro shop to sign-up.
We had FootJoy at the club on Tuesday for a Shoe Fitting Day. Those of you that missed out can benefit from having your size checked with any of the professional team.
Vice-captain Judith Leadley-Wood won Lady Captain's Day with a great score of 41 points. Well done to Lisa Babadi and Jo Bentham on their second and third place finishes. Well done to Gill Olke on her organisation of her Captain's Day, positive feedback from all involved.
I forgot to mention Jane Marr's impressive 44 points in the previous week's stableford; it's great to see so many of our ladies improving their golf. It can't be a coincidence that since Chris Pearson started the ladies coaching sessions, the scores have improved.
Looking ahead we have the Medway Trophy at the club on Sunday, 28 August. Contact the pro shop if you would like to get a FREE game at another club on that day.
We have a few spaces left to play in the PGA Pro-Am on 14th September - click here for more information.
The 17th September is our Captain's Charity Day. I will again do the 'beat the pro' so bring your A game and your wallets. The tee sheet will go live at 12 noon on Thursday, the day will cost £15 to include food, raffle and prizes. Anyone wishing to sponsor a hole, support the event or make a donation please contact club captain Dave Seely directly on seelydavid@gmail.com.
