Greetings from Ben Blackburn
Kings Hill Golf Club - Director of Golf

Thank you to everyone for the positive and constructive feedback following our first newsletter last week. Just a couple things; I would like to clarify yes it was me in the photo (I was that young looking once!) and we were only testing when we included a map of Edinburgh to locate the club so we could discuss GPS and other Distance Measuring Devices later in this week's newsletter.

For those of you that might have missed our email last week, We'd like to tell you a little more about my new email and website. We have spent a lot of time putting together this website. You will find videos on the latest golf equipment, instructional tips and videos, contact forms to keep in touch and information on the promotions that we have running in my shop. But we also want to feature you! So if you have any news be it a hole in one, birth of a son or granddaughter, a testimonial on how great your new driver or electric trolley is we want to know and we will be delighted to feature you in our site.

Thank you to everyone who completed the Survey. Please if you haven't done it yet do so this week to qualify for a chance to win a dozen TaylorMade balls from the Professional Shop. Click here to complete my survey.

Pleasedo not hesitate to email suggestions or questions to me that you would like included or answered in future newsletters. All suggestions are welcome, from a rules section to a tip of the week, so please contact me here with your suggestions.

Well done to Michael Cook for organising a great Charity Day last Friday - it takes a lot of hard work to organise any event especially on a large scale and an evening event too. Members wishing to hold golf days for charity, corporate or society golf are welcome to do so, please contact the office.

Speaking of great events, the Richard Moore Trophy was played on Sunday (trophy pictured here).

The winner for 2014 was Mike McMorran with 40 points on a very windy day. Second was David Chalk on 39 points followed by Joseph Drown, after count back, on 38 points.

Around 120 competitors played, all contributing to the worthy Kent Air Ambulance Charity.

On Friday night the 9 and Wine followed by a tasty lamb tagine was played. The next 9 and Wine will be on Friday 27th June. Well done to all the winners who won a bottle of the new Captain's Wine.

The other date for your diary is the Captain's Dinner on 19th July for a whole night of swing! Tickets are available from behind the bar.

Congratulations to Mark Trow on completing his PGA Coaching exam last week and also qualifying for the Southern Assistants Championships.

Thank you to everyone who volunteered a friend to "get into golf". This will continue through until the end of the month. Growing the game for all is a vital goal for the team and myself. This is highlighted by the National Golf Month - a promotion designed to help introduce new players and to also encourage players that haven't played for a while to have a go and return to the game.

Please contact us here, or call the professional team on 01732-842121, if there is anyone you would like to suggest gives golf a go!

From time to time you will see graphics and content in our email and website relating to Click and Collect. This is a website where you can buy golf equipment. It helps us to expand our product range that we are able to offer you. If we don't stock it here in our shop and it's available on the Click and Collect website, then you can pay for the product and have it delivered to our shop free of charge.

If there are any problems with the item purchased you can return it to me and we can send it back, again without charge.

As you read this email several of your fellow members are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their custom built PING Irons following the Demo day. Don't worry if you missed the day, as we are offering a Complete Equipment Solution with PING until the 31st May 2014. This includes a FREE fitting and a FREE lesson upon collection of the custom built clubs. To find out more, please visit my website here.

It appears that I could have predicted Mr Farrington's performance on Sunday in the competition as he was playing without his 6 and 7 iron that I have in the workshop awaiting shafts (pictured here)! He was playing with two handicaps!

If you have any questions about your equipment please feel free to pop in and discuss.

Last week I forgot to thank Kings Hill Properties for their continued sponsorship of the team shirts and jumpers, which are now available for those representing the Club in matches. Please go to the Pro Shop to try on one for size and to place your order.

So, back to GPS and Distance Measuring Devices. A lot of you picked up on the fact that our map was pointing at Edinburgh rather than Kings Hill. Today's distance measuring devices are accurate to within a yard, giving you precise yardages to the flag. But that's only of any use to you if you know how far you hit each iron! Gaining true distance consistency takes practice. Book some time with us to make sure you are putting that valuable range work to its best possible use. We stock a range of Bushnell equipment in store, so pop along next time you are at the club and ask us how they can help lower your scores!

This weekend's medal has just got even more competitive! Purchase any FootJoy glove from us on May medal day, then beat your handicap and we'll give you that same glove for FREE. That's a nice little 2-for-the-price-of-1 incentive for those of you who fancy going low. What a great time to dispose of that worn glove.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the newsletter and have a great weekend.

What influences your decision?

Before we buy new equipment, there are a few factors we weight up before making the commitment. Let us ask you what those factors are...

What influences your decision

Your involvement would be greatly appreciated and there's even a dozen new golf balls up for grabs for one lucky person who enters. Thanks for your feedback.

Save yourself time and money, go lithium!

Sure, a lithium trolley battery may cost a little more than its lead acid alternative; but Motocaddy lithium lasts five times longer, is a fraction of the weight and recharges much faster. For trolley power, it pays to play the long game.

Next time you're around, drop in and ask us for a demonstration. We'll be delighted to help.
