Pro V1 2017 model 8 yards longer! 

Having used the new and improved Pro V1 golf ball with a putter last week I did some driver testing with the GC2 launch monitor in the academy.

I hit 8 balls with the old Pro V1 and Pro V1x and 8 balls with the new Pro V1 and Pro V1X. Each shot was played with my own driver a Titleist 917 Driver, D2 8.5 loft set to B1 hosel and a Graphite Design AD6 Stiff shaft. 

As you will see from the data, which you can click here to view, I averaged 8 (7.875 to be exact) yards more carry with the new ball. When you combine this added length with the improved feel on and around the green then you are on to a big winner.

The ball is now in store so make sure you purchase some on your next visit to the shop to benefit from improved feel and added distance!

The Tennis Perspective

We have all at some point said something like the following "tennis is much easier than Golf, you even get two chances at serving."

In tennis we have a first serve and a second serve. It is because we know we have a second chance we can hit the first serve with intensity and commitment. I believe that most golfers play golf with their "second serve "because we don't perceive that we have a second shot, and they are afraid of what may go wrong. However, we always have a second shot and often a third, fourth, and so on, so you might as well hit the shot with commitment of a first serve.

I challenge golfers to play more golf with their first serve. If we did, we would have fewer total shots! Plus you will find a new enjoyment in the game through the reduced feeling of fear.
