Men's Match Play Events in 2017
Just to remind everyone that the Men's Match play events this year will have a new Pre-Qualifying format ahead of the main draw:
- For the Murphys Handicap Singles, you will need to enter the Men's Stableford on Saturday 11th March
- For the Seely Scratch Singles, please enter the Men's Medal on Saturday 18th March
- For the Hogan Pairs, please enter a new pairs competition on Saturday 25th March, and submit a better ball stableford score.
This change of format follows the request of members at the AGM to have a finals day for all these events together, which will be on Sunday 1st October.
This year there will be much more closely-defined dates for rounds to be played, details of which will be explained at the time the draw is made.
Entry for the Hogan Pairs Qualifier goes live on Friday February 24th, the individual event entries will go live 12 days before as per normal.
I would like to introduce Fraser Nicol as the new Competition Secretary. Fraser has taken over from Phil Allen, I would personally like to thank Phil for all of his hard work and dedication over the past 5 years.
FootJoy Shoe Measuring
This week we have had a great example of a customer that is one of the 70% of you that is wearing the wrong sized shoe.
Mr P, as he has asked to be known, was wearing a size 12 shoe when in fact a 10 wide was the correct size, he went up to a size 12 to get the correct width rather than the correct width and size.
Pop into the shop ASAP to ensure you are wearing the correct shoe size.
Don't forget the wine tasting bookings are now being taken - contact Mel to book your place.

Grips save shots It is a fact that grips in poor condition will lead to inferior performance and scoring. When grips start to wear out and lose traction your ability to hold the club with the correct grip pressure is severely affected.
The tendency is to grip the club too tight in order to compensate for the lack of grip which then leads to poor rhythm and generally poor use of the hands in the golf swing. Don't risk this happening to you as the season approaches. Come and see us about re-gripping your clubs in time for your golfing season.
Staham Trophy Well done to the Kings Hill Golf Club junior members,
Jacob Kelso,
Sonny Teale,
Maria Babadi,
George Younng and
Callum Tibbs, who played in the Statham trophy, invited by the county to represent the central region. Kings Hill had a strong presence with half of the team of 10 made up by our members, their combined scores were enough to secure a win. This was played on the Open Championship Venue of Royal St George's on the16th February. A very impressive performance on the a course that is going to host The Open Championship again in 2020.
