Monday saw the first Pro Pro Challenge taking on Mark and Chris were Ron and Archie. Playing with great weather and course conditions, the match was played in fine spirits. The challengers walked away with the bragging rights with some inspired play. To take the challenge please contact Mark or Chris through Elite Golf Academy or the Pro Shop.
The Cecil Leitch 5 Club event is this weekend, to help you we have outlined our club choices below:
Ben Blackburn - 3 Hybrid, 7 iron, PW, SW, and putter. The game plan is to ensure I keep the ball in play to give myself the best possible opportunity to score as with limited clubs I do not want to add the difficulty of playing from the rough too. I have chosen clubs that I can hit 200, 150, 100 and 50 yards.
Mark Peddar - Driver, 6 iron, PW, 58 degree wedge, and putter. The driver is a must, the 6 iron is the club I would choose to deal with the all Par 3s in the best manner, whilst not making too much of a compromise on the longer holes. Then PW and 58 are for best performance around the Green and from 100 yards and in.
Sian Evans - Driver, 6 iron, 9 iron, 58 wedge, putter. I normally hit driver on most holes, so I would take this to get the most distance out of my tee shots and have a shorter second shot in. I would take a mid-long iron like a 6 to use on the par 3's and for second shots on the par 5's. Next I would take a 9 iron to use for shorter approaches, long pitches and long chips around the green. Finally, I would take a 58 degree wedge to use around the greens, mainly out of bunkers and for chipping
Mark Trow - Driver, 4 hybrid, 8 iron, 56 degree wedge, putter.
Chris Pearson - Driver, 6 iron, 9 iron, 56 degree wedge, putter.

Grips save shots
It is a fact that grips in poor condition will lead to inferior performance and scoring. When grips start to wear out and lose traction your ability to hold the club with the correct grip pressure is severely affected.
The tendency is to grip the club too tight in order to compensate for the lack of grip which then leads to poor rhythm and generally poor use of the hands in the golf swing. Don't risk this happening to you as the season approaches. Come and see us about re-gripping your clubs in time for your golfing season.
