Greetings golfers,

We all thought the battle between Mickelson and Stenson was good in 2016 – I think this was better. It goes to show that even the very best players are affected by nerves and pressure! Spieth also highlighted that good course management is vital in order to not only win but also get the best out of your game even when not playing well. A new lowest score in Major golf, a 62 from Brandon Grace, was in my opinion not reflective of the difficulty Royal Birkdale throws at players, but a big well done to him as you still have to hit the ball close and putt it in the hole regardless of length of hole.

We now look ahead to a Major of our own – the Captain's Cup! Don't forget it' a two tee start from 9am on Saturday for the Captain's Cup!

Teams Roundup

The Invicta Team played at home against Chestfield on Sunday – with some bad luck at the back end of many rounds - a 2.5 – 2.5 draw was the end result.

The Junior Team won 3 – 0 at home to Upchurch – well done guys!

The Bradley Cook team will look to continue their good form this Saturday afternoon – good luck girls.


Men's Friendly Update

An excited Men’s Friendly team played the return fixture at Mannings Heath Golf Club, hopeful that we could capture back the trophy we lost two years ago. We were 4-2 ahead after the home match. The course was in excellent condition and, apart from the frequent rain and showers, the team returned to the club house losing 2-4; meaning the trophy was retained by our hosts. Our hosts were excellent both in camaraderie and golf, this is fast becoming the friendliest set of matches.

A few weeks ago we played an away match against Redlibbets Golf Club, the weather was very hot and although our team battled hard, we unfortunately lost the game 0 6, with many of the matches being lost by the odd game.

We have our return match on August 12th, please sign up to ensure we can return the favours in game score!

Boom Boom Challenge Rescheduled

Following the big down pour of rain on Saturday we had to stop the Boom Boom Challenge halfway through so it will continue this Saturday. There were some great results so don’t forget to enter and participate early Saturday morning as a new set of clubs and extra yards could be yours!
