Change is coming

Golf is a game that we all love. It’s one that produces an array of emotions within us, from sheer delight to utter despair - usually one shot to the next! That being said, it doesn’t mean that golf is perfect, which is why change is on the horizon.

We’ve spoken a lot in our weekly newsletters about the Rules Modernisation initiative by the R&A that will come into play in 2019. Well, in addition to this, golf’s governing body has announced that there will be a new World Handicapping System from 2020, designed to create a more ‘consistent measure of playing ability’. It will include changes such as a maximum handicap of 54, social rounds counting towards your handicap, and an average-based handicap that takes into account your best 8 scores from the previous 20 rounds.

There’ll be much more on this as we edge closer to 2020 but let us know your initial thoughts.
