Enjoy the read. |
First one way, now the other The U.S. Open had everything from the sublime to the ridiculous, and it’s safe to say that the course set-up played a huge part in this. With much of the debate centred around whether the USGA made conditions too tricky or not, we posed this very question to you over the past week on our website poll and here are the results: 75% of you believe the USGA got it wrong at Shinnecock Hills It really does make for interesting reading. Just a couple of months ago we asked you whether you’d prefer to see 20-under-par win a tournament or two-over-par, and the results were the complete reverse. On that occasion, 82% voted in favour of seeing the world’s best struggle to make a score, which is exactly what happened at the U.S. Open. Click here to let us know your thoughts. |
Tom Sherreard marches on
This week two Kings Hill members Tom Sherreard and Callum Swift played in the Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship. Tom played exceptionally well and after a front nine one under par he made four birdies on the back nine to shot a five under 67 to finish first. Well Done Tom, we all at Kings Hill which you the best of luck next week at the final stage held at Princes Golf Club on Tuesday, 3rd July. View the results from first stage here. |

All for a great cause
On Thursday, 21 June Jane Marr with three work colleagues took on the Longest Day Golf Challenge, playing Kilspindie Golf Course in Scotland. The sun was shining, the wind blustery and the temperature a pleasant 15degrees. At 06:30 they set off and taking in the lovely scenery finished the first round in just over three hours. The fourth round completed at 21:30 quickly followed by a drink in the bar. Overall about 270,000 steps, 18miles and about 1400 shots hit. Hard work but a great day and for a good cause. There has been £2,264 raised for Macmillan Cancer Support so far, but if you would like to donate it is not too late.

Men's friendlies update
On Saturday we played Red Libbets away, a course where we lost 6 - 0 last year, which the current Captain said gleefully in his opening speech. The team, reconfigured, and mixing players performed magnificently securing our first draw at Red Libbets in friendly history. Much credit to Michael Blanning and Tony Caulfield, Jonathan Flegg and Ian Kennerley who when arriving back in their clubhouse for Kings Hill to go 2 - 0 up. There is a famous saying ‘You can’t keep a good man down’ – Tony Williams, fresh from his Argyle Trophy win, led his partner Mick Tilcock home for our third point. So, gentlemen, do you feel inspired to join our happy, friendly team...sign up on the board in the coming weeks for three fixtures. The camaraderie amongst the team and the rapport between the clubs is at an all-time high. Great work, gentlemen Prior to this match Kings Hill have played two hard fought matches, one at home against Mannings Heath (L 1.5 to 4.5) and an away match at Walmer and Kingsdown having a rare away defeat (L 1.5 to 6.5). Of interest of the 11 matches we lost, six were by one hole. Paul Miles being the only member of the team on both occasions to win his match, there is an extensive list of players putting their names down to play with Paul in future matches. Good Luck everyone that is playing in the Men’s Club Championship this weekend.

Which bracket do you fall in? |
There’s one thing that you'll always need in abundance when playing golf and that’s balls - and plenty of them. Each golf ball we sell offers different levels of feel and performance at varying price points, meaning we have something to offer all playing preferences and budgets. |
| Bang for your buck Balls at a cheaper price point usually have one key performance benefit rather than offering a little of everything. The Titleist DT TruSoft bucks this trend by offering incredibly soft feel combined with longer distance on all shots through the bag. |
| The all-rounder If you’re looking for more balanced performance through the bag without the premium price tag, this Titleist Tour Soft ball provides category leading soft feel, very fast speed for impressive distance and excellent short game performance. |
| Tour performance The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies when it comes to golf balls. Titleist's Pro V1/x are their premium options, and it's easy to see why, with their soft urethane cover delivering exceptional greenside control. |
