It was brought to my attention that one of our early Saturday morning players had a little difficulty advancing his ball past the yellow tee from the whites and then further difficulty getting past the reds in two (as pictured here). I will not name who it was as that's not fair but yes you are correct in thinking it is Andrew Johnson in the photo! He did make a great par to be fair!
This got me thinking about how the different formats of play test different areas of our game and foursomes is an especially difficult format. This will be highlighted in the upcoming Ryder Cup match where the top players in the world spend three days playing as a team in formats rarely played on the main circuit.
We are planning a Ryder Cup style match on Sunday 28th September (the last day of the Ryder Cup) in the morning so that we can all watch the golf in the clubhouse after. If you would like to play in the event please let me know by clicking here.
There is no question that foursomes really tests the players driving skills the most. So with this in mind, we have special offers on all drivers this week! Pop in to see the special offers and we can discuss the best options for your game.
Well, a winning start to finals month with our Captains winning the Captains' Foursomes on home soil last Saturday. They look delighted in their photo, as they should having won in contrasting fashion with one pair winning 6 up and the other losing 5 down to win by one hole.
The other foursomes matches were played by other clubs: Sundridge Park, Princes, Chelsfield Lakes and Eltham Warren. All the players and county officials were blown away by the condition of the course, the test it provided and the atmosphere in the clubhouse.
Good luck to the Kent top club team who will be looking to follow our Captains lead at Sittingborne on Saturday!
This week we also have the PGA Southern Professionals here competing for the biggest prize fund on the PGA in England South schedule. Our own Professionals will be playing (listed below), with anyone wishing to be a spectator very welcome to do so.
Chris Pearson 1:45pm, Mark Trow 8:39am, Paul Page 8:12am and I will be off at 7:45am tomorrow with Wednesday's times to be confirmed based on performance.
We look forward to seeing you on the course.
