Welcome to this week's newsletter.
This week I've had the chance to try out the new Callaway Epic Flash driver, so read on to hear my thoughts, we've also got a couple of events coming up at the Golf Club to tell you about and we encourage you to be prepared for the cold snap ahead. Enjoy the read. |
Don't get caught out... With the cold weather approaching, it is very important to have the correct equipment and accessories for you to enjoy your golf. When I go out and play, I always make sure that I have five key items to help me stay warm, which allows me to enjoy being out on the course. 1. Snood 2. Winter mitts 3. Beanie 4. Waterproof jacket/trousers 5. FootJoy socks |
All the items above help in a different way, some being more obvious than others. For me one of the most important ones are the FootJoy ProDry socks. That’s because they have moisture control technology which helps keeps your feet warm in cold weather. This, alongside the double cushioned sole provides excellent comfort and warmth. Try them out for yourself and I’m sure you will be as impressed as I was!

What did I think of the Callaway Epic Flash? This week I manged to get out and give Callaway’s new Epic Flash a hit on the driving range. I thought I would document my thoughts in this week’s newsletter. My first thought was that I was very impressed with how the new driver looks, the carbon top with the bold colours on the bottom complement each other nicely and overall it looks like a very nice golf club both on the shelf and behind the ball.
As with anyone that would come for a custom fit, I used the GC2 launch monitor which tracks how far the ball went along with a few other numbers such as the launch, spin and the speed of the ball. |
I am currently using Callaway’s XR Speed driver, which is still a current model and retails for £299. My average carry for this club is between 255 and 260 yards, for me I love how forgiving this club is, which means my dispersion is pretty good. My first thoughts on the Epic Flash was that it felt heavier, which I liked as it felt I had more control over strike, ultimately resulting in more consistency. After 10 shots I checked out what my average carry was, which by surprise was 9 yards further, 269, than my XR Speed driver. The spin rate and launch of the ball was very similar but the ball speed was up by 4 mph. Callaway claim that their new Flash Face will provide more ball speed, which in my case it absolutely did! The last thing anyone wants is to purchase a new set of irons, only to struggle massively when they take to the course with their friends a few days later. Sound familiar? Well, with lots of new products about to land in-store for 2019, here is an iron model that we recommend having a custom fitting for... |
Callaway's 2019 edition of its Big Bertha iron doesn't hit stores for a few weeks yet, but we just had to show you how beautiful it is. Packed with stunning features to help you hit more greens in regulation than ever before, this super game-improvement iron couldn't be easier to launch off the deck thanks to a new Suspended Energy Core directly behind the face, whilst also producing impressive distance and incredible feel. Hopefully, you have an idea of which iron you'd like to put in your bag, but it's not until you come and visit us for an enjoyable custom fitting that you'll know which iron and shaft combination performs best for you. We're here to help you play better golf. |
