Welcome to this week's newsletter. There is only one place to start and that's with a recap of the Men's Club Championship, but we also, of course, bring you all the latest news from around the club too. Enjoy the read. |
The 3 new Club Champions are now known
As you know, over the last couple of weeks each section have been competing to crown their Club Champion. Maria Babadi was first by winning the Ladies Club Championship by an impressive 23 shots! Then Alex Parietti won the Seniors Club Championship in dramatic fashion in a sudden death play-off against Gary Holdon with a birdie on the 1st hole. Last weekend it was the Men's Club Championship.
Some brilliant golf was played on the first day with Jake Bacon shooting 3 under, James Dunn shooting 1 under and Tom Sherreard shooting a level par 72, meaning it was all to play for with 18 holes to go with 3 players in with a chance.
James didnt get off to the start he wanted with a front 9 of 38 but a strong back 9 of 33 meant that James was in the club house with rounds of 71 & 71. There was only 2 shots in it with 9 holes to play between Jake and Tom. Tom made a very impressive eagle on the 10th to close the gap and continued this form with birdies on holes 12 and 14 for a back 9 of 32 and a round of 67.
Jake had a steady start to the round with a front 9 of 35. Unfortunately, with a few bogeys on the back 9 Jake had to birdie the last to tie with Tom, leaving himself with a tricky chip shot which he was unable to make, but continued his fine run in the board events with coming tied 2nd.
A huge congratulations must go to all the Club Champions!
I'm looking forward to seeing who wins the Junior Club championship later on in the year.

Hole-in-one alert
A special shout out must also go to Wesley Jones for a fantastic Hole-in-one on the 11th hole!
Well done Wesley.

Try before you buy on Odyssey Putters & Callaway wedges
We have been lucky enough to get the entire Odyssey range of demo putters for a limited time in-store. The idea of this is that you can try before you buy, or get custom fit for a putter that bests suits your stroke! |
You may recall last year Sian and I went to Callaway Headquarters to get fitted for our putters. I know I am not alone when I say that this has really helped my putting, just changing the length of club has made everything feel more comfortable. I
f you want to feel more comfortable, which could be the difference between making and missing a putt, then speak to one of the team today!
The same can be said for wedges, although the area I see golfer struggle with the most is their distance control, which is caused by having the incorrect loft gaps.
If you want to get yours lofts checked or just fancy some new wedges please speak to one of the proshop team.
