As I am away on holiday for the next few weeks, I will be leaving my newsletter in the very capable hands of Mark Trow, Teaching Professional at Kings Hill.
With the cold weather looking like it may return, be sure to be prepared for this by wearing the correct clothing. We have just had a new delivery of mittens, woolly hats, rain hats and base layer clothing; all of which will help you stay warm during your round. Additionally, the new FootJoy waterproof and windproof jackets ensure that you stay dry and warm throughout your round.
Club MOT Success - Numerous members have dropped their clubs in throughout the week to be assessed and altered. The adjustments have varied from a replacement of one grip, to the replacement of 14 grips, one re-shaft and complete new set of spikes and a loft and lie adjustment. Please drop your clubs into the pro shop for us to take a look.
The Junior Academy has now re-started and continues to go from strength-to-strength with the attendance of 80 juniors every weekend. We continue to offer sessions that not only install good basics but also advanced technical improvement. To highlight this, Jake Antoun (pictured here) won the GM Junior Spanish Open last weekend by five shots from his nearest competitor. Jake has been an Academy member for numerous years and continues to work hard with Mark on his game. For more information on the Academy please contact the pro shop here or come and speak to us.
Winter golf is difficult at the best of times: cold conditions and no roll makes the course play its full yardage. During numerous lessons and observations over the past couple of months, the majority of shots I have seen on the golf course often come up short of the flag. This time of year, I always try and make sure I take enough club to get past the middle of the green, this way you are always guaranteed to have a putt to the hole and not an awkward chip from short of the green. As on many courses, the majority of the trouble and hazards are always around the front portion of the greens, an extra club will help take these out of play.
