Having done several custom fits and on-course lessons during the past couple of months, the importance of set make-up has become very apparent. Many players have large gaps in loft between clubs meaning a huge distance differential throughout their set. The main area that players have this large gap is generally between their wedges.
Considering 70% of the game is played within 100 yards, these clubs should be the most efficient providing you with designated yardages and various options to pitch and chip. Splitting the large gap between your pitching wedge and sand wedge with a "gap wedge" will enable you to be more precise and increase your ability to judge the distance of your approach shots; ultimately lowering your scores.
The same can be said of the combination between woods, hybrids and irons. A 15 yard distance increase between clubs ensures you have the correct options right the way through your bag. If you would like any help to correctly space your lofts/hybrids or wedges please enquire in the pro shop or get in touch here.
The PGA South region have just released the playing schedule for 2015 which incorporates some great golf courses and days out. As always we will be active in playing in these tournaments across the South East. Many of the courses are exclusive and only accessible via tournaments that the PGA provide. Please find a link here to the 2015 schedule, if anyone is interested in any of the competitions (all of which have great amateur prizes) please contact us in the pro shop.
