On Wednesday, 18 February we are hosting a Junior Tour event consisting of 40 of the best juniors for their relevant age groups in the UK and Europe. The strength of our academy programme means that we have numerous players representing Kings Hill and hoping for good performances in their relevant age groups. We would like to wish all of the players participating the best of luck.
Having played nine holes at the weekend for the first time in six weeks, it was good to get out on the golf course to experience the conditions that everyone has been playing in. The course is always in great condition this time of year and still allows you to gain some feedback from your game. As many of you can relate to, this time of year you get numerous awkward lies and tough shots around the greens, which makes chipping and pitching very difficult.
During the winter months it is increasingly important to use a variety of clubs around the green depending on the shot and lie that you are faced with. A less lofted club will obviously help you get the ball running forward which is great when the conditions are slightly softer and when you have plenty of green to work with. When chipping with a higher lofted club, it is very easy to leave the ball short of the hole, purely because of the lack of bounce and roll; trying to carry the ball further up the green and nearer to the hole will help you be more positive and ultimately get the ball closer.
