Hello golfers,
I have to confess I didn't get to watch much of The Open this year (although it was delayed for the most part) but what was interesting was the club selection of many of the players for the St Andrews course. Playing a links course (similar playing surfaces to ours) the players would have spent a long time adapting their play and using some slightly different or modified equipment such as driving irons, mini drivers and wedges. We have trial clubs of all of these in the Golf Academy, please contact us if you would like to try one during your next round, on the range or to have a custom fitting session.
Having previously spent three days with Mr Bob Vokey, he described how busy he is during Open Week and the week before finding different sole grinds, loft and bounce options to help the players.
In the adjacent photo, you can Zach's 60 degree wedge that he used to win The Open. It has his wife's name, Kim, stamped in a heart shape on the back of the wedge.
Also in Zach Johnson's bag were Titleist 915 metal woods and 714 irons. To celebrate his success we are offering a FREE box of Pro V1 balls, which Zach also used, with any Titleist golf club purchase. You can't say fairer than that!
Many of you have asked about wedge fitting since the Academy Trial Weekend and how the raw black finish imparts more spin - essentially it rusts a little to provide a more abrasive surface. In addition to us finding the customised specification we can also provide a personalisation, too.

It's not just The Open that was extended, our sale has been continued, too! We have Ralph Lauren buy one get one FREE, as well as FootJoy All Weather gloves on a 3 for 2 offer and Precept golf balls only 3 dozen for £30 (that's only 83p per ball!).
Many of you would already have seen that our Captain's Day is now available to be booked online. We are using this event to trial a new feature in the online booking software. When you come to book your tee-time it will ask you to click to be put on the waiting list and to select a time window. To help us can you please follow the instructions on the time sheet when choosing the time based on the letter of your surname. It is a drawn event so what you choose will not be your tee time.
