First of all, I wanted to start by apologising for not informing you of mine and Joe Drown's performance in the Lombard Trophy Pro-Am at Royal Ashdown. Thank you to everyone that has come into the shop to ask. The fact that I didn't mention it is a good indication of our success on the day. A couple of loose shots (I even lost a ball which is unusual) and a poor day on the greens meant that we were unable to trouble the leaders and did not qualify for Gleneagles. I have to say well done to Joe though, I am sure he will not mind me saying that we lost many balls on the practice round but he used the practice round well and did not lose a ball until he stood on the 18th tee and hit it straight into the gorse.
On a more positive note, several of our members have benefitted from a custom fit set of clubs from TaylorMade, Titleist and Vega, too. I look forward to reporting on their success next week.
As you will know Kings Hill Golf Club has a reputation that is growing in all areas. I was delighted to have engaged in a conversation with a group of golfers who did not know who I was but did see the Kings Hill Logo on my shirt. They preceded to speak so positively of our club, the course and especially the Junior Section and how they wished their clubs could deliver such a programme of events for young golfers.
With the holidays now in full swing, perhaps now is the time to introduce a young member of your family or a friend to the game? We have an extensive range of specific junior clubs and would encourage you to bring them to the club to try on the range and following that enrol in The Academy. Click here for more information.
As you will have seen in the diary, we have the Kent County 1st Team playing a home match at the club this weekend for the first time. I am sure you will join me in giving them a warm welcome and hope they can beat the Dorset team. I am sure both teams will find the course a great challenge and in fantastic condition as well as enjoying the club as a whole.
New gear represents new fitting opportunities
We're heading into that time of the year when we see new equipment launches from a number of manufacturers, and one of the first things we look out for is how this will benefit you. With promises of more distance and even more forgiveness, there will be cynics who roll their eyes - but you'll forgive us golf pros who look forward to testing new gear! If there are performance benefits to be had, regardless of whether you're a scratch golfer, 12-handicapper, or beginner, with our expertise we can help pass these on. We have the opportunity to fit you with product that will help you enjoy better golf, whether it's a more forgiving driver so you find more fairways, or a new set of irons that helps you achieve a better ball flight.
So, keep an eye out in the shop for some exciting new product and in the coming weeks and months we'll have more information and videos to give you an even better idea of how new technology could make a difference to your game. Click here if you are looking for that new piece of golf equipment to help transform your game.
