I am writing this newsletter from the clubhouse at Woburn having spent the day with Robert Rock in preparation for this week's event on the fabulous Marquees course. It was great to see his putting continue to improve following his sessions in the Quintic Putting Lab at the Club a few weeks ago. You can see Steve Bainbridge and Richard Hills (his caddy) in action on the practice green in the photo. You can learn more about the Putting Lab and the Robert Rock Academy at Kings Hill using this link.
At the other end of the bag Rob has put the new TaylorMade M1 driver (which is now in stock) straight in to the bag and we spent a good hour tinkering with the TaylorMade Tour Staff to maximise Rob's distance and understand the new technology in this excellent new product. In fact they gave us a sample mould to show you all, pop into the shop to see a dissected clubhead!
We then took it to the course so we could compare the difference in performance. Rob instantly noticed a big reduction in the ball spin and as a result, longer drives! On our way round the course, Steve, Richard, Rob and I were discussing his winter development plans (to be revealed in a later newsletter).
If Rob is thinking about it now so should you so contact Chris, Sian, Steve or Mark to discuss your personalised development plan for this winter - get in touch here. Having left Rob on the putting green for more practice I anticipate good things over the next two weeks and strong finish to the season.
Just a quick update on upcoming competitions. There are no results to share from this weekend as the Andersen Autumn Bowl was cancelled due to the fog. This event has been rescheduled for the 25th October and is a two-tee start at 9am, bookings for this event will go live on Tuesday, 13 October.
At the same time, the Captains' Drive-In will go live which will be played on 31st October with a 10am shotgun start. It's spooky how quickly a year flies by!
Please note that the annual membership fees are due by Monday, 12 October. Please contact the office to do so. Members that have no renewed by this date will not be able to book tee-times beyond the 12th.
Good luck to everyone playing in the Cup Winners' Cup on Saturday and fingers crossed for no fog!
